Manila Vanilla

i joined a new team recently. the project my new team is working on is an office building in manila - capital of philippines.

since our office sometimes take on projects that are confidential, we are custom to use code names like, project "space", project "tin", project "mars"... to keep the clients, the building locations and any other background info discreet.

when my project manager and teammates introduce me to project "manila", I thought they meant project "vanilla"... so I keep making lame remarks like, "what a cute code name!", "that name makes me hungry...", "we should sooo have a sister project called 'cinnamon'!"

well, you can imagine the embarrassment when my co-workers finally caught on... and to make thing worse - out of the 5 teammates, 3 of them are filipinos...
